HELP! I just moved back here from the bay area!

Ok so I was living in Berkeley for awhile, and loving it.
I lost my job (long, complicated story)
and now I am back in Pittsburgh, where I grew up because it more affordable
I am not so keen on being back because I feel totally disconnected,
I need help becoming connected here to the art scene, the music scene, I am a singer
and I need a job....
I have only been back for two weeks, and I am trying to get reajusted...
I just seek community, warmth, and connection

Any ideas?

    Hey there,

    There are a bunch of transplants here and around and about. There's also a pretty big celtic music scene (or so I've heard) - I can see if I can find more information on that for you.

    Fortunately or unfortunately, Pittsburgh seems like a place where you kind of have to seek stuff out: it's there (lots of different diverse communities are there), but you have to look for it.

    So, personally I'd suggest keeping an eye on the City Paper and the Pittsburgh Livejournal Community ( community.livejournal.com/pittsburgh/ ) for events. That, and dammit, we should just have (another?) "welcome to PGH" meet-up somewhere.
